OIS Showcase

Oamaru Intermediate Talent Showcase 2019

Are you the next Mariah Carey? The next Justin Bieber? Do you juggle, mime or play a
musical instrument? The time has come for Oamaru Intermediate School to hold its
annual talent showcase! Read on to find all about it…

What?
The OIS Talent Showcase is your chance to perform and show off any special talents
you may have. You could do this as an individual or as a group. You need to be able to
perform and entertain the audience for a minimum of 2 minutes, and a maximum of 3
minutes. Talents could include:
  • Singing or playing a musical instrument

  • Miming or acting

  • Making a speech

  • Dancing

  • Juggling or performing magic/card/sleight of hand tricks.

  • Acrobatics

  • Stand-up comedy

  • A video of you doing parkour, diving etc.

If you have a special talent, and you are unsure if it is right for showcase, have a talk
with your teacher and/or Miss Paterson to see if it is up the right alley.

Performances are expected to be of a VERY HIGH quality. You need to be fully prepared
and committed to your performance. For this reason each class will hold its own round
of auditions. Everyone is expected to perform in front of their class - house points will
be up for grabs! Although this is not a competition, there will be special awards given out
at assembly for the audience’s choice, and for the most entertaining performance.

After the initial auditions each class will put forward their best 1-3 acts. Miss Paterson will
then meet with these performers and hold practices for the final showcase in week 8. If your
performance is not deemed up to standard, you may not be performing in the final showcase.

When?
Weeks 2-3: Classes need to hold their auditions and record the names of students performing
in the final showcase on THIS document.
Week 4: Any available year 8s to practice with Miss Paterson before they go on camp.
Weeks 6-7: Miss Paterson will hold lunchtime practice sessions to polish acts.

Showcase will be held on Friday 6th December from 1.30pm to 3pm (week 8).

If you have any questions please get in touch with Miss Paterson.
